2017 NCAA Men’s Golf Regional
The College Grove regional marks the first NCAA regional hosted by Middle Tennessee University since 1979, and one of the only times in recent history where four teams are participating in their home state.
“It all starts with the golf course,” Whit Turnbow, MT senior associate athletic director, and former golf coach, said in a recent interview. “To secure a bid like this for that prestigious of an event, you have to have a world class golf course. The Grove fits that; they check all the boxes in regards to the golf course, the amenities, the staffing and things that need to be in place.”
Why The Grove?
The Grove golf course in Middle Tennessee was named the 2016 Private Golf Course of the Year by the Tennessee Turfgrass Association. Being selected to host an event such as a NCAA Regional solidifies The Grove as a nationwide premier golf facility.
Turnbow explained that “The Grove is ahead of growing schedule because of the mild winter, so the rough will be up and greens will be firm and fast. If they get good weather, I think you can expect a really good test of golf.”
The stage is set for the 2017 NCAA Men’s Golf Regional Tournament at College Grove, which will tee off on May 15th through the 17th. Make plans to attend and experience the finest Private Golf Course in Tennessee at The Grove! Admission for spectators is free and shuttle service will be available.
