Summertime, Time to Get Outside

Pools at The Grove

Welcome Summer! Summertime means getting outside and enjoying all the fun activities and amenities offered at The Grove. Of course, summer means keeping cool, and our resort pools are always top of the must-do list, as are the ice cream and frozen treats at The General Store and Bridge Bar! With fishing, biking, sports parks, playgrounds, and sports courts, there are plenty of options to make this summer an adventure to remember.

THE GROVE POOLS

The Grove Sports Centre features a family-friendly, resort-style pool with beach entry, a fabulous waterslide, and plenty of room to lounge poolside or under the covered gazebos. Separately, the Adult Pool is available to members who prefer a quieter, more relaxing poolside experience, or for lap swimming. Alfresco dining and beverage service from the Trellis Grille is centrally located at the Sports Centre for dining underneath the covered trellises. Water stations and pool towels are offered for use, and the fully-appointed pool restrooms located inside the Sports Centre feature showers and saunas.

At The Gathering Place, members will find even more space to enjoy a sunny day. Here, the large Olympic-style pool offers family-friendly swimming with abundant lounge seating and covered gazebos. There are also pool towels and water stations, along with well-appointed, dedicated pool restrooms featuring indoor and outdoor showers located between the pool and tennis courts for easy access and convenience. Dining and beverage service is available from the Bridge Bar, with dining seating indoors or outside at the Bridge Bar dining tables.

The Resort & Gathering Place Pools are staffed with Lifeguards during the primary season operation. Swimming is not allowed when a lifeguard is not on duty.

PARKS & PLAYGROUNDS AT THE GROVE

Along with The Grove’s community pools, there are several parks that offer plenty of ways to play the long summer days away. Here are just a few…

Sports Park: Located off Wildings Blvd, this park offers more structured fun for kids, young and old. A sandpit for digging, swings, and a carriage climbing structure offers fun for the little ones. An open field with soccer nets and a cage for batting with bases marked for the younger kids means it is time to bring the ball and bat for a game!

The Gathering Place Playground: This expansive playground with cushioned rubber matting is suited for kids 5-12. From bouncing and climbing, to sliding and balancing, this park features a play structure built for fun, plus overhead lighting to keep the play illuminated after sundown (until 9:00pm). Conveniently located adjacent to Bridge Bar, stop in for a sweet ice cream float!

Hole #3 Fishing Pond: Stocked with Catfish and Carp, this pond is easily accessible off Wild Heron Way and is an opportunity for catch-and-release fishing fun for all ages! Signage indicates shoreline areas that are accessible for fishing, to ensure the fishermen are safe from errant golf balls and don’t interfere with play.

Angler’s Nest/ Fishing Camp Park: At the end of Shoreline Drive, the Angler’s Nest Fishing Camp Park overlooks our larger fishing pond that sits alongside hole #14. This pond is stocked with Catfish and Carp for more catch-and-release fishing from the dock or shoreline. The Angler’s Nest offers views of the dock, water, and covered bridge, with covered picnic tables and open-air seating. Two permanent charcoal grills sit amongst more picnic tables under shade trees just beside the Anglers Nest, offering plenty of room for friends and family to gather.

THE GROVE COMMUNITY TRAIL SYSTEM

Winding through the community from Wild Heron Way to the far end of Heirloom Blvd, over 3 miles of trails allow for enjoyment, exercise, and exploration throughout The Grove community. The majority of the trail system is a natural stone base path suitable for walking or biking. In some portions, the trail leads onto the golf course cart path and through the course. For those looking for a bit more of a hike, follow the trail off the cart path and over the bridge near hole #10. Wear your hiking shoes and take in the sights and sounds of the gently moving creek water along this wooded path area. There is a cabin shelter, in case bad weather arrives, and lots more to explore as the path leads through mildly challenging climbs and loops back around to where you began.
