Lat Pulldowns Done Correctly
The Lat Pulldown is a great exercise for working the muscles of the back, shoulders, and arms. It’s a popular exercise that I see people doing wrong on a daily basis here at The Grove. Strength Coaches and Physical Therapists have known for years that performing this exercise by pulling the bar down behind your head instead of in front creates a lot of impingement in the shoulder joint, which can lead to injury of the shoulder joint over time. So when performing the lat pulldown keep your shoulder blades pulled back and pull the bar down in front of your face to just below the chin. This will strengthen the back and shoulder muscles without damaging the shoulder joint.
