RoverWorks at The Grove Raises Thousands
RoverWorks at The Grove raised over $36,000 to benefit Agape Animal Rescue and Williamson County Animal Center while fostering a greater awareness of the needs of local animal rescues. The Cocktail Party on the 18th got things started with live music, a cash bar, and silent auction, which raised over $2,700 to benefit Williamson Animal Center and Agape Animal Rescue.
During the Open Casting Call, 117 dogs descended on The Grove for their chance to meet renowned photographer Andrew Grant and be included in his upcoming edition of Rover.
While Andrew was busy meeting and greeting, others enjoyed our festival atmosphere complete with live music, pet-friendly vendors and even a pet show where we gave out awards for everything from Best Celebrity Look Alike to Most Mysterious Heritage and Best in Show! Plus, our friends at Global K9 put on a few excellent training exhibitions with their older dogs and pups in training.
At the end of the day, rather than the customary three winners Andrew selected five cool canines from The Grove’s casting call for his book, a $5000 value each! Three of the winners had their photo shoots on Monday, the 20th with the remaining winners and five additional donors planned for Tuesday.
Our Winners
“He’s a great ambassador for the type of wonderful dogs available for adoption, says Andrew. “Banjo was incredibly skittish at first. Twice he “spun his wheels” as he darted away after I made the mistake of simply moving my foot. Seemingly moments later, he was sitting down on his spot on the studio floor and posing for shot after shot.”
Eddie, a terrier mix, was rescued by a couple that has a huge heart for animals. Andrew says, “Eddie is a great dog and wonderful ambassador for homeless pets and we love that the owner has 10 rescued dogs and 11 rescued cats at their home. That’s just amazing and inspiring.”
Fable is a long haired Dapple Dachshund—those eyes!
A special thank you to Whistle GPS Pet Trackers, Purina – who donated $60 dog food gift certificates and pet toys, Walton’s Antique Jewelry, and everyone else who donated prizes for our event, attended, volunteered and most of all donated to support Agape Animal Rescue and Williamson County Animal Center!
