Resident Spotlight: Kippy Brown

The Grove would like to recognize fellow resident and friend, Kippy Brown. Brown was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in April of this year, recognizing his success as a collegiate football player and NFL coach.

Brown acted as quarterback for the Memphis State University Tigers from 1975 to 1977. Following graduation, Brown became a coach for his alma mater from 1978 until 1980. Brown also acted as a wide receivers coach for the University of Tennessee from 1983 until 1989, and then again from 1993 until 1994.

Brown continued his career as a football coach until 2014, coaching NFL teams such as the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks. Perhaps Brown’s greatest success can be marked as coaching the Seattle Seahawks to victory in Super Bowl XLVIII in 2013, triumphing with a score of 43 to 8 over the Denver Broncos.

The Grove could not be more proud to have such an acclaimed player, coach and beloved family man as part of our community. Congratulations to Kippy and the entire Brown family!
