Our favorite small town, Franklin has yet another award to add to its mantle. Money Magazine recently named Franklin as one of the top 5 “Best Places to Live of 2017." Money Magazine searched far and wide to compile the top 100 places to live and Franklin, Tennessee surpassed 96 other U.S cities to claim the 4th spot among cities with a population of 10,000 to 100,000.
With a list based on the following criteria: cost of living, the economy, education, housing, crime, convenience, cultural and recreational amenities and overall sense of pleasantness. Franklin’s top-rated schools, thriving economy and unique combination of history and culture elevated it to the upper echelon of this year’s list of Best Places to Live.
Franklin is located within Williamson County, Tennessee, home of one of the fastest growing economies in the U.S. Major corporations like Nissan North America, Verizon and Mars Petcare have footholds in the area to take advantage of this hotbed of growth, and there are more on the way.
After a national search that spanned six years, LG Electronics makers of popular appliances, electronics, and mobile devices have broken ground on a 1 million square foot facility outside of Nashville.
This new facility marks LG’s first washing machine plant in the U.S and is projected to bring 600 new jobs to a region with an already low unemployment rate—2.6% to be exact.
Hankook Tires is also getting in on the action. The company announced the relocation of its North American Headquarters from New Jersey to Nashville last year. Once completed and at full operation, the plant is projected to employ upwards of 1,800 people in the Nashville region.
Franklin is within the coveted Williamson County School District—the top-rated district in Tennessee—and home to 21 public schools, 15 of which have received a 10 out of 10 from greatschools.org.
Williamson County Schools has also received national acclaim with several schools ranked among the best in America by the U.S News & World Report.
“The schools are incredible,” says one Franklin parent. “If there’s something a kid wants to do, they will find a way to provide it.”
Within the past decade, Franklin’s cultural scene has expanded rapidly, people aren’t traveling to Nashville to hear music any longer. Taking a page straight from the music city’s playbook, you can hear some of the best live music around, right here in Franklin any night of the week.
Along with an eclectic mix of local shops and restaurants, Franklin is home to several festivals and celebrations like Pumpkinfest, A Dickens of a Christmas, and the newest addition to Franklin’s annual lineup—The Pilgrimage Music Festival whose most recent lineup consisted of artists like Justin Timberlake, The Avett Brothers, and Eddie Vedder just to name a few.
