Resident Spotlight: The Sanders Family

Although new residents Sharon and Burton Sanders didn’t move very far from their 26-acre equestrian estate just down the road in Franklin, life at The Grove couldn’t be more different.

With 3 children grown and out on their own, Sharon and Burton found themselves wanting to simplify their life. After considering their options, Burton an avid cyclist, suggested looking at a community he noticed along his biking route. He thought the location was perfect, and the landscape and homes were very attractive. Shortly thereafter, Sharon and Burton planned a visit to see what is on the other side of the gate he had riden by so often.

One visit was all it took!

We recently spoke with Sharon about their decision to make The Grove their home.

What do you remember from your first visit?

“I remember thinking the community was stunning, the surrounding area is beautiful, and it just felt like a good fit.” Originally, the Sanders purchased a homesite with all intentions of having a custom built home. It wasn’t until Robert Shiels (sales director) showed them one of the model homes during The Grove’s recent Fall Festival of Homes—a beautiful, French Country home by Legend Builders —that it all came together. “We were going to build, even picked a wonderful homesite, then Robert gave us a tour of a festival showcase home. It was so close to what we originally envisioned and the location was perfect. We overlook the 6th fairway and directly across the street is the horse pasture. We couldn’t be happier.”

What is your favorite room of your house?

“That is a tough one. I know if you asked my husband he would tell you that his favorite is the ‘man cave or media room’. I guess my favorite space is the living room, it flows directly into the open kitchen. It’s bright and airy, cozy and comfortable.”

Do you miss the farm?

“At first, our kids were upset to learn we were moving from our their family home. They have since visited and fallen in love with our new home and The Grove, all has been forgiven!”

Do you and your husband play golf?

“No, not yet. We have enjoyed the fitness facility. I enjoy my personal training classes with Kim Whitaker and walking trails throughout the community. We are looking forward to playing tennis and meeting more of our neighbors this spring.”

There are so many new things on the horizon for The Grove: a fishing hole, full-service spa, expanded fitness facility… What are you looking forward to the most?

“We chose The Grove because overall, it had what we were looking for —gated, pool, fitness— and they were in-place for us to enjoy now. As for everything that is on the horizon, that is just icing on the cake! We have never lived in a country club community before. This is going to be fun!”
